Sometimes an elf will mate with someone of another race. This happens most frequently with humans, often enough that "half-elf" is synonymous with "elf-human crossbreed" to most people. Half-elves have no distinct culture or society of their own. They may be raised among elves or among humans, but in either case they tend to feel out of place.
