- HELP
The 11C03 system test is designed to test the data path from the VAX
to the LSI-11 in the 11C03 subsystem. The program will check the
data paths thru the following units: DW ADAPTER, DR11-W, DRV11-B,
LSI-11 and the DLV11-J. The intent is to focus the user's efforts
towards fixing either problems in the DMA/PIO data path between the
VAX and the LSI-11 or to fixing problems at the DLV11-J serial
line interfaces.
- ATTACH
The user must load and start the diagnostic supervisor. Once the
diagnostic supervisor has been loaded the device you wish to test
must be attached and then selected. There are two ways in which this
can be done. The first way is by using the 'PROMPT' mode and the
second way is the 'EXPLICIT' (no prompt) mode. For this diagnostic,
the unibus adapter, DR11W, and FT must be attached.
NOTE: BECAUSE THE SUPERVISOR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS DEVICE, THE LOAD
AND ATTACH SEQUENCE MUST BE PERFORMED IN THE ORDER SHOWN,
OTHERWISE THE SUPERVISOR WILL NOT RECOGNIZE DEVICE NAME FTA#.
- EXAMPLE
DS> LOAD EVTDA ; THE PROGRAM MUST BE LOADED BEFORE

- SECTIONS
This program is divided into two (2) sections.
- DEFAULT
This is the default section in which all tests except test 14 (Manual
test - display of input) are run.
- MANUAL
This section is used to run test 14 (Manual test - display of input).
To run test 14, start the program with the following supervisor
command:
DS>START/SECTION:MANUAL
- DEVICE
This program requires the use of three (3) devices. These devices
are used to communicate to the 11C03 processor.
- DW780
11/780 UNIBUS adaptor.
- DW750
11/750 UNIBUS adaptor.
- DW730
11/730 UNIBUS adaptor.
- DR11W
General purpose DMA I/O interface.
- FT
Description: 11C03 Serial Interface
link: DWn
Generic name: FTan
Additional information:
TR level [decimal 1-15]
UNIBUS BR level [decimal 4-7]
- EVENT
No event flags are used by this diagnostic. For information on event
flags defined by the supervisor refer to the VAX-11 Diagnostic Design
Guide.
- QUICK
When the quick verify flag is set, the program will only execute one
iteration of a test that has multiple iterations with the same data.
Tests which loop with different data are not effected by this flag.
The quick verify flag is set by typing the following command to the
diagnostic supervisor:
DS>SET QUICK
- SUMMARY
This diagnostic uses the standard end of pass supervisor routine and
does not have a summary routine.
- MANUAL
Test 14 is the only manual intervention test in this diagnostic.
This test is started by typing the following command to the
diagnostic supervisor:
DS>START/SECTION:MANUAL
DESCRIPTION:
This test puts the selected terminal in a state where single
characters output from the terminal are captured singularly as they
are transmitted back to the VAX. The character is checked to see
if it is the termination character 'CONTROL-Z' or a printable
character. If it is the termination character, the test will exit
back to DS> prompt. If a printable character, it is printed on the
control terminal and then looped back to the display for output. If
all other tests but this one work, then the line transmitters or
internal character generation circuitry within the display/terminal
itself is suspect.
ASSUMPTIONS:
1. That the 11C03 VMS driver is loaded and running.
2. That TESTS 1 thru 13 ran without error.
3. That the terminal to be tested is powered on if it externally
clocked.
- VMS_DEVICE_DRIVER
This program requires that the 11C03 VMS device driver be installed
in the system. If the device driver in not installed it will have to
be installed before running this test.
- INSTALLATION
THE FOLLOWING FILES ARE NEEDED FOR THE INSTALLATION
1. FTDRIVER.EXE THE VMS DRIVER FOR 11C03
2. FTLOAD.COM COMMAND PROCEDURE TO LOAD THE VMS DRIVER,
THIS FILE IS OPTIONAL.
LOADING THE VMS DRIVER
AFTER THE LSI-11 IS LOADED, THE VMS DRIVER MUST BE LOADED. THIS IS
ACCOMPLISHED BY RUNNING THE PROGRAM 'SYSGEN' WHICH IS DOCUMENTED IN
THE VMS INSTALLATION GUIDE. HOWEVER, IF ALL CSR AND VECTOR
SETTINGS ARE NORMAL, THE FILE FTLOAD.COM CAN BE USED TO LOAD A
DEFAULT SYSTEM. THIS EXPECTS THE CSR TO BE AT 172410 AND THE
VECTOR AT 124. IT ALSO EXPECTS TO BE CONNECTED TO THE FIRST UNIBUS
(I.E. ADAPTER #3 ON A 780). THE COMMAND PROCEDURE IS INVOKED BY
@FTLOAD, WHICH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
$ MC SYSGEN
RELOAD SYS$SYSROOT:[]FTDRIVER ; [] IS THE AREA WHERE
CONNECT FTA0/ADAPTER=3/CSR=%O772410/VEC=%O124/NUMVEC=1 ; THE FTDRIVER CODE IS
CONNECT FTA1/AD=3 ; STORED. (normally
CONNECT FTA2/AD=3 ; "[SYSEXE]")
CONNECT FTA3/AD=3
CONNECT FTA4/AD=3
CONNECT FTA5/AD=3
CONNECT FTA6/AD=3
CONNECT FTA7/AD=3
EXIT
TO INSURE THAT THE DRIVER HAS LOADED CORRECTLY, TYPE A
$ SHOW DEV FT
COMMAND. IF THE DRIVER HAS LOADED CORRECTLY, ALL EIGHT UNITS SHOULD
BE MARKED 'ONLINE'. ALSO, THE LSI-11'S RUN LIGHT SHOULD BE OUT AT
THIS TIME. THE FINAL TEST IS TO HIT CARRIAGE RETURN ON A TERMINAL
PLUGGED INTO THE 11C03 AND INSURE THAT THE VMS "USERNAME" PROMT
APPEARS ON TERMINAL SCREEN.
