- HELP
EVTBA IS A LEVEL 2R LOCAL MULTITERMINAL DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH RUNS UNDER VMS,
AND USES THE VMS TERMINAL DRIVER.
- DEVICE
EVTBA IS A FUNCTIONAL TEST OF THE LA34, LA36, LA38, LA120, LA12, LA100,
VT50, VT52, VT55, VT61, VT71, VT100, VT101, VT102, VT125, VT131, VT132,
VT220 AND VT240 TERMINALS. THE PROGRAM CONSISTS OF TWENTY NINE (29)
TESTS ALL REQUIRING OPERATOR INSPECTION OR INTERACTION.
- DESCRIPTION
THIS PROGRAM IS A FUNCTIONAL TEST OF THE LA34, LA36, LA38, LA100, LA120,
LA12,VT50,VT52,VT55,VT61,VT71,VT100,VT101,VT102,VT125,VT131,VT132,VT220,
AND THE VT240'S CAPABILITIES. IT CONSISTS OF TWENTY NINE (29) TESTS
ALL REQUIRING OPERATOR INSPECTION OR INTERACTION. NO INPUT IS TESTED IN
THIS EXERCISER. (USE ZZ-EVTAA). THE DIAGNOSTIC RUNS MULTIPLE UNITS
'SIMUTANEOUSLY'. (MAXIMUM OF 32 TERMINALS) QIO IS SENT TO ALL
SELECTED UNITS AND THEN THE DIAGNOSTIC WAITS FOR THE 'LOGICAL AND' OF
ALL QIO TO COMPLETE. ALL TESTS ARE NOT RUN FOR ALL TERMINALS. THIS
PROGRAM IS NOT DESIGNED TO TEST A COMMUNICATION DEVICE SPECIFICALLY.
MOST TESTS CONSIST OF A PATTERN WHICH MUST VISUALLY BE INSPECTED FOR
ERROR DETECTION.
- ATTACH
After VMS is up and running log into the field service account. Once the
VMS command prompt ($) appears, type:
RUN ENSAA ; For 11/730
or
RUN ECSAA ; For 11/750
or
RUN ESSAA ; For 11/780
This starts the Diagnostic Supervisor. Then the following should appear on
screen:
DIAGNOSTIC SUPERVISOR. ZZ-ESSAA-6.9-XXX
Before attaching and selecting the device you wish to test, first load
the diagnostic
DS> LOAD EVTBA
Once the diagnostic supervisor has been loaded, the device you wish to
test has to be attached and then selected. There are two ways in which
this can be done. The first way is by using the prompt mode and the
second way is the explicit (no prompt) mode. Examples are shown below.
- . PROMPT MODE
DS> ATTach
DEVICE TYPE? DW7XX ;where XX=80 for 11/780
; XX=50 for 11/750
; XX=30 for 11/730
DEVICE LINK? HUB
DEVICE NAME? DW0
TR? 3
BR? 4
DS> ATTach
DEVICE TYPE? DZ11
DEVICE LINK? DW0
DEVICE NAME? TTA
CSR? 760010
VECTOR? 300
BR? 5
MODULE TYPE? EIA < or 20 MA>
DS> ATTach
DEVICE TYPE? VT52 < or LA34,LA36,LA12,LA100,LA120,VT50,VT55,VT100,VT220,VT240>
DEVICE LINK? TTA
DEVICE NAME? TTA0 < or TTA1,....,TTB0,TTB1,....,OPA0>
DS> SELect TTA0
- . EXPLICIT MODE
For DZ11:
DS> ATTach DW7XX HUB DW0 3 4 ;where XX=80 for 11/780
; XX=50 for 11/750
; XX=30 for 11/730
DS> ATTach DZ11 DW0 TTA 760010 300 5 EIA
DS> ATTach VT100 TTA TTA0
DS> SELect TTA0
For DMF32:
DS> ATTach DW7XX HUB DW0 ;where XX=80 for 11/780
; XX=50 for 11/750
; XX=30 for 11/730
DS> ATTach DMF32A DW0 TXA 760414 340 5 EIA 40 19200 INTERNAL NO
DS> ATTach VT100 TXA TXA0
DS> SELect TXA0
A third way to attach the terminal on systems which auto-configure
on startup of VMS is the following :
DS> ATT VT100 HUB TTA0
DS> SEL TTA0
Once the unit under test has been attached and selected, the diagnostic
can be started. There are 2 ways you can start the diagnostic.
Examples are shown below.
EXAMPLE 1.
DS> START/switches
..PROGRAM:EVTBA.................. X TESTS
EXAMPLE 2.
DS> RUN EVTBA/switches
..PROGRAM:EVTBA.................. X TESTS
- DATA-PATTERNS
Complete descriptions of the many test patterns used are given in
the document for EVTBA.
- SECTIONS
There are no sections other than the default section.
- QUICK
The QUICK feature is not implemented in this diagnostic. The
diagnostic execution time is several minutes for an error
free pass on one unit, at 9600 baud.
- EVENT-FLAGS
There are no event flags defined for use in this program.
- SUMMARY
The SUMMARY section is not implemented by this diagnostic.
- ERRORS
Errors are detected by the operator, by observing the printed output
on the terminal under test, and comparing it to expected data patterns
described in the EVTBA program document.
