- ATTACH
The following ATTACH commands are necesary to run this diagnostic:
ATTACH DW730 HUB DW0 5
ATTACH RB730 DW0 DA 776606 50 5
Then attach the type of disk that is under test as follows:
ATTACH RL02 DQA DQAx ; to attach an RL02
where x is an arbitrary unit number.
The following is an example of the attach sequence on a VAX 11/8200 for a
RX02:
ATT DWBUA HUB DW0 0 4
ATT RX211 DW0 DYA 777440 210 5
ATT RX02 DYA DYA0
- HELP
This program contains a set of tests which will verify the integrity
of the drive(s) under test. The set of tests included are:
A) Qualification Test
B) Seek Timing Test
C) Media Test
D) Multi-Drive Test
E) Conversation Mode
It is a Level 2 diagnostic that must run under the VAX Diagnostic
Supervisor, either standalone or under VAX/VMS.
- SECTIONS
There are 6 test sections, each of which can be selected for execution
via a section switch in the start command line.
- QUALIFICATION
This test section will issue one of each of the drive functions to
insure that the drive(s) under test will suport all disk drive commands.
- SEEK
This test will perform seeks between cylinder 0 and the following
cylinders: 1,2,4,16,32,64,128,256,410 (814 if an RP06).
- MEDIA
This test will write and write check every sector on the disk using
an entire track for each operation. After all sectors have been written
the test enters a random mode where random patterns are written to
random disk addresses.
- MULTI-DRIVE
This test will test up to 8 drives by transerring random data to random
disk addesses to all drives in a concurrent mode. All transfers are
issued in parallel for those drives attached to separate controllers
and sequentially to those drives attached to the same controller.
- NOCUSTOMER
This thest is a duplicate of the Multi-Drive test except that on fixed
media devices, the entire physical area of the media is used, not just
the FE cylinders.
**** WARNING - CUSTOMER DATA WILL BE DESTROYED ****
- CONVERSATION
This test is a set of routines designed to allow the field service
engineer to design the run simple test routines, with a minimum of
difficulty. It can perform basic disk functions, and can be run on
up to 8 drives simultaneously. Refer to Documentation for more
information.
- DEVICE
This diagnostic can test any of the following drives on any VAX
system, subject to constraints decribed in the Documentation:
ML11, RK06, RK07, RP0x, RM0x, RL02, TU58, Rx02
- EVENT
Setting Event Flags 2, 3 will allow the reporting of single bit
errors for the ML11, in the summary section.
- QUICK
The Quick Flag is implemented and, when set, will produce a quick
pass of the program (25 to 30 minutes)
- SUMMARY
The summary code will print out the total number of transfers and the
total number of errors that have occurred during the test. This is
only implemented for the Media Test and the Multi-Drive Test. In
these tests, automatic execution of the summary code will occur every
5 minutes, if the Trace Flag has been set.
