- DEVICE
Type HELP DEVICE device-type for device description.
- EVENT
Event Flag 2 (set) - Inhibit Read Reverse operations
Event Flag 3 (set) - Inhibit Read error recovery
Event Flag 4 (set) - Inhibit Write error recovery
- HELP
This program will detect failures in the following components of the DX20
magnetic tape subsystem:
DX20
TX01/02
TU70/72
In addition several utilities are provided to provide further assistance in
isolating tape system problems. For more information on these utilities
type HELP EVMCD SECTION.
- QUICK
The QUICK flag causes the end of tape test to be bypassed.
- SECTION
- DEFAULT
Runs all the tests in this diagnostic.
- CONVERSATION
The CONVERSATION section is a routine which allows the operator to
generate sequences of operations on a single magtape drive. The
following is a list of the valid commands and a brief explanation
of each:
NOP - Issue NOP command
REW - Issue REWIND command
WTM - Issue WRITE TAPE MARK command
ERA - Issue ERASE command
DSE - Issue DATA SECURITY ERASE command
FSB - Issue FORWARD SPACE BLOCK command
BSB - Issue BACKWARD SPACE BLOCK command
FSF - Issue FORWARD SPACE FILE command
BSF - Issue BACKWARD SPACE FILE command
WRT - Issue WRITE command
RDF - Issue READ FORWARD command
RDB - Issue READ BACKWARD command
CKF - Issue WRITECHECK FORWARD command
CKR - Issue WRITECHECK REVERSE command
END - Terminate command script generation
- COMPAT
The COMPAT section is a routine which is used to determine the
compatability of each tape drive to other tape drives.
- SKIPREAD
The SKIPREAD section invokes a routine which will skip read all the
records on any tape and report any read errors that might occur in the
process. A summary of the data on the tape will be printed as the tape
is read.
The tape will be read from BOT until a double tape end of file mark is
found. The tape drive does not have to be write enabled to run this
routine.
- PRINT
The PRINT section invokes a routine which will print the contents of a
tape. This routine can be useful when there is any doubt as to what is
on a tape. The tape drive to be read does not have to be write enabled
when running the print tape routine.
The test will ask questions to determine which part of the tape and how
much of the tape should be read and printed. The test will position the
tape to the selected file and record. The test will never move a tape
beyond a double file mark on the tape and an error message will be
printed if a double file mark is encountered while spacing to position.
When printing a file, all the records in that file are printed until
either the number of records specified have been printed or until
another file mark is read.
- SELECT
To select the DX20 for testing use the following command.
DS> SELECT ALL
- SUMMARY
This program provides a summary report of the total number of read
and write operations performed. A summary of the total number of read,
write, and writecheck errors. And a summary of the per pass total
number of read, write and writecheck errors.
