- HELP
EVMAF is a level IIR functional level diagnostic for the TS05
tape drives.
Help about general DIAGNOSTIC SUPERVISOR topics is available
via the standard "HELP" commands.
- DEVICE
The TS05 tape drive is a self loading TS11 compatible magnetic
tape drive. The drive responds to all commands just as if it
was a TS04/TS11 drive.
The drive operates at 25 ips.
For more specific device information enter one of the following
commands:
HELP EVMAF DEVICE TS05
- TS05
Device: TS05 Serial tape drive Controller
Link: DW0
Recommended Generic: MSA0
Additional information:
UNIBUS CSR [Octal 772520]
UNIBUS vector [Octal 224]
UNIBUS BR level [Decimal 5]
The diagnostic uses the normal method to specify units to
be tested. The following commands, to the diagnostic
supervisor will start the automatic (default) test run
for an TS05 tape drive. The three possible command lines,
for the controllers, are listed below. This sequence
assumes that the operator has successfully attached a
controller and the UBA.
TS05 Controller
DS> ATTACH TS05 DW0 MSA0 ;Attach TS05, label: MSA0
DS> SET TRACE
DS> SELECT MSA0 ;Select the tape drive
DS> START ;Start the default section
The following command line will attach the TS05 Controller.
The appropriate device attach command must be used with this
controller.
DS> ATTACH TS05 DW0 MSA0 772520 224 5
- ATTACH
ATT DW780 SBI DW0 3 4 0 ; attaches UBA TO 11/780
OR
ATT DW750 HUB DW0 ; attaches UBA to 11/750
OR
ATT DW730 HUB DW0 ; attaches UBA to 11/730
For device specific attach information type the following:
HELP EVMAF ATTACH {device name}
The following device names are supported:
TS05
- MOUNT
Before invoking the Diagnostic Supervisor, a good tape should be placed
in the drive, and the drive should be mounted "FOREIGN", once this is
completed the supervisor program can be called. The following dialogue
should be executed, $ is the VMS prompt, and should not be entered by
the operator.
$SET DEF [SYSMAINT]
$MOUNT/FOR MSA0:
$RUN ENSSA
DRS>
TS05 diagnostic testing may now be performed with or without
a script file. Execute the following dialogue if you are not
using a script file:
The following topics may be of additional assistance to the
operator.
HELP EVMAF ATTACH {device}
HELP EVMAF START {device}
- DATA-PATTERNS
The data patterns for this diagnostic are self-explanatory.
- SECTIONS
There are two sections in this diagnostic.
They are:

2. Magtape Data Reliability
- DEFAULT
The following tests are included in the default section
of this diagnostic:
TEST 1: BASIC DRIVER FUNCTION TEST
TEST 2: BASIC WRITE DATA TEST
TEST 3: BASIC READ DATA (FORWARD AND REVERSE) TEST
TEST 4: SPACE RECORDS TEST
- CRD
The following tests are included in the customer
runnable diagnostic section:
TEST 5: DATA RELIABILITY TEST
- EVENT-FLAGS
Not used.
- QUICK
The QUICK feature is not implemented in this diagnostic.
- SUMMARY
The Summary feature is implemented in this diagnostic.
- ERRORS
Regular supervisor error call for level IIR diagnostics.
- REQUIREMENTS
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS :
VAX Processor with 512K memory (minimum)
A TS05 Magtape Controller
A TS05 Magtape Drive
Valid UBA configuration
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS :
VAX Diagnostic Supervisor (version 6.7 or later)
- START
After the appropriate device has been attached and selected
the tests may be started with the "start" command to the
Diagnostic Supervisor. The following switches are necessary
to start the two tests.
