- HELP
EVDTF is a Level 2R, diagnostic for the FEP front
end processor. It runs in link mode and requires
that DEC/X11 module XFPCA0 is running in the PDP-11.
EVDTF cooperates with the DEC/X11 module in the PDP-11
and is controled in a master/slave relationship.
- SECTIONS
The program contains 1 section.
DEFAULT- Test 1 only. No operator action.
Starting the program with no section selected test 1.
Once started, the diagnostic is in a loop until either
an error occurs or control C is typed.
- DEVICE
EVDTF tests the FEP option. It consists of an M8642 UNIBUS BRIDGE
MODULE on the VAX UNIBUS and an M8632 Q-BUS bridge module on the
LSI-11/23 Q-bus, or an M7484 UNIBUS bridge module on the PDP-11/24
UNIBUS, connected by cables.
- ATTACH
EVDTF must be loaded before it can be attached.
DS> LOAD EVDTF
Next, the device must be attached and selected. This can be done
using either the prompt mode or the explicit mode.
The VAX/VMS FEP Bridge Physical Access Driver (FPDRIVER) must be
connected before running this diagnostic. If it is not, consult
with the system manager, or check for instructions in EVDTF.MEM,
supplied with the diagnostic documentation.
- PROMPT
Prompt mode:

- BRIDGE TYPE
The diagnostic has been designed to test both types of bridge
hardware, VAX/PDP and VAX/LSI. Each bridge has characteristics
unique to the SLAVE processor bus, either UNIBUS or Q-BUS, which
will affect the execution of some tests. Acceptable values are U
or Q. There is no default.
- SELECT
After attaching the UNIBUS adapter and the FEP, select the device
for testing:
DS> SELECT FPA
- QUICK
The quick mode is not used in this diagnostic. Program
running time is not applicable because the program is
in a permanate loop once started.
- SUMMARY
The summary section is not implemented in this diagnostic.
- EVENT
Event flags are not used by this program.
- MANUAL
See SECTIONS MANUAL.
- LOAD
The link diagnostic requires programs to be loaded in both the
VAX and the PDP-11.
- VAX
The VAX program must be loaded before attaching. It is loaded by:
DS> LOAD EVDTF
- PDP The PDP-11 DEC/X11 module must be loaded in the PDP either
through a console device on the front end or using the
virtual terminal (EVDTE) diagnostic program. See EVDTE
documentation for further information on the virtual terminal.
- CONTROL-C
Typing a CONTROL-C from the VAX is the only normal method
to exit from the diagnostic.
- RUN
The RUN command cannot be used with this program since the attach
must be done after loading the program and before starting it.
