- HELP
EVDTE is a level 2 program which provides a "virtual" console
terminal connection to the FEP.
- SECTIONS
The program contains only a default section, containing 1 test.
This simply supplies the interface to the PDP-11 virtual console
and never terminates.
- DEVICE
EVDTE uses a DZ11 serial line connected to the PDP-11 console
port.
- ATTACH
EVDTE must be loaded before it can be attached.
DS> LOAD EVDTE
Next, the device must be attached and selected. This can be done
using either the prompt mode or the explicit mode.
- PROMPT
Prompt mode:
DS> ATTACH
DEVICE NAME? VIRTUAL
DEVICE LINK? HUB
DEVICE NAME? FPa
- EXPLICIT
Explicit mode:
DS> ATT VIRTUAL HUB FPa
- SELECT
After attaching the terminal, select it for use:
DS> SELECT FPa
- RUN
The RUN command cannot be used with this program since
the attach must be done after loading the program and before
starting it.
- CONTROL-C
Typing a CONTROL-C causes The EVDTE program to terminate
and the VMS Diagnostic supervisor prompt is displayed.
Typing a back-slash "\" will cause the PDP-11 to enter console ODT.
by sending a BREAK to the front end.
Typing a tilde "~" will cause the PDP-11 to receive a CONTROL-C.
- START
The program checks for a system-assigned FEP serial line.
If none is found, the user is asked for the DZ11 line to use:
VIRTUAL TERMINAL(TTXY)?= TTA7 (example)
Further input will go to the PDP-11.
