EVDLC TESTS THE ASYNCHRONOUS FUNCTIONALITY OF THE DMF32 BOARD(m8396) .
* NOTE - DUE TO UCODE VERSION #12 PROBLEM ASYNC PORT #6 FAILS
- DEVICE
EVDLC is a Level 3 asynchronous functional diagnostic and supports
the DMF32 module (m8396). The DMF32 module contains functionality
for one synchronous, eight asynchronous and one parallel port.
EVDLC exercises the asynchronous mux functionality.
- ATTACH
The following is an example of how to attach the device to
be tested, and to load and run evdlc (answers to hardware questions
are typed in octal) :
NOTE: The unibus address is a function of the switch pack on the
DMF32 board. The vector is in floating space and is not set
until the vector is written into the first csr.

- SECTIONS
There are three sections, DEFAULT, MANUAL & SWITCH. The default
section will include all tests except the manual intervention test.
The MANUAL section consists of one manual intervention modem test
which will run with either a remote modem loop back or a single line
(H3248) single line connector. The SWITCH section tests switch pack
#3 on the distribution panel and reports which ports are present on
the DMF32.
- DEFAULT
The default section will include all tests except the one manual
intervention modem test.
NOTE:
Some tests in this test section may abort. The Wrap Type parameter
passed in the attach sequence will vary the wrap specific tests which
will run in the default section. (ie. If internal wrap is selected,
the staggered wrap single line and modem wrap test will not run.)
- MANUAL
The manual section consists of one remote modem test. The test
is designed to run with a remote dial up modem but will run with a
single line wrap on any line, or a local modem on line zero or one.
The test will prompt for line to test, default parameters or prompt
parameters, baud rate, character length, number of stop bits, parity,
test character pattern to transmit and if carrier is present. If
a single line wrap connector is employed ignore carrier prompt.
- SWITCH
The SWITCH section runs one test:
1) Reports the ports enabled by the settings of switches 4 &
5 of Switch Pack 3 on the DMF32 Distribution Panel.

- WRAP_TYPE
There are five different kinds of wrap connectors that may be used
with the DMF32 board, INTERNAL, H3248(SINGLE LINE), LOCAL_MODEM,
PROGRAMMABLE_MODEM and H3249(STAGGERED). NOTE: Different wrap
connectors will give different coverage and should be selected
accordingly.
- INTERNAL
The internal wrap connector is actually a UART function that enables
the data to be internally looped to itself through the UART. If
selected the UART transmitters and receivers, and asynchronous drives
and receivers as well as some functionality can not be verified.
- H3249
With the STAGGERED wrap connector(H3249) selected all default
tests will run except the two single line modem tests. Verified by
the staggered test will be the drivers, receivers and cables to the
distribution panel.
- H3248
The single line connector(H3248) will run all default tests except
the STAGGERED wrap tests. Hardware verified by the single line wrap
tests will be the drivers, receivers, distribution panel and the
cables.
- LOCAL_MODEM
With the modem connector selected all default tests will run
except the STAGGERED wrap tests and the RX & TX MODEM SIGNALS test.
A local modem may be any modem that is capable of internally looping
data back for lines zero and one(IE.. DF03 modem).
NOTE: A local modem is only specified for use in the DATA TRANS(SINGLE
LINE or MODEM WRAP) test but can be used in the REMOTE MODEM manual
intervention test.
- PROGRAMMABLE_MODEM
With the programmable modem connector selected all default tests
will run except the STAGGERED wrap tests and the RX & TX MODEM
SIGNALS test.
NOTE: Programmable Modem is only used in the DATA TRANS(SINGLE LINE
or MODEM WRAP) test.
- DIST-PANEL_SWITCHES
The following distribution panel switch setting must be selected
to run the single line, staggered wrap or modem tests.
SWITCH 1 ; 1=OFF, 2=ON, 3=OFF, 4=ON, 5=ON, 6=ON, 7=ON, 8=OFF, 9=ON, 10=ON
SWITCH 2 ; 1=OFF, 2=ON, 3=OFF, 4=ON, 5=ON, 6=ON, 7=ON, 8=OFF, 9=ON, 10=ON
- REQUIREMENTS
The base SYSTEM and UBA must be functional and the green light on the
DMF32 board must be on.
The green light indicates the DMF32 board is running. If a control
store parity error is encountered, the green light will go out and the
on board clock stops.
- RUNTIME
EVDLC runtime with trace set, is approximately 3 minutes.
With the quick flag set, runtime is approximately 1/2 minutes.
For more information on the QUICK FLAG, type HELP EVDLC QUICK_FLAG
- QUICK_FLAG
EVDLC runtime; QUICK FLAG CLEAR is approximately 3 minutes.
QUICK FLAG SET is approximately 1/2 minutes.
Tests which are not run with quick flag set are;
TEST 31: RECEIVE SILO ALARM TIMEOUT
TEST 32: BAUD RATE TIMING TEST
TEST 34: DYNAMIC BAUD RATE
TEST 35: DYNAMIC WORD LENGTH
TEST 36: DYNAMIC STOP BIT TEST
TEST 37: DYNAMIC PARITY
TEST 45: SPLIT BAUD RATE(STAGGERED WRAP)
