- HELP
EVDFL, a REPAIR LEVEL (Level 3) diagnostic, contains a series
of tests which will establish the functionality of the DR70.
The program provides error messages which identify data and I/O
errors. The program runs with the Diagnostic Supervisor from the
system console in a STAND-ALONE (Level 3) environment.
- DEVICE
This program (EVDFL-1.0) supports the following device:
Device: DR70
Link: UR
Recommended Generic: URdu
- EVENT
Not Applicable.
- QUICK
Not Applicable.
- SUMMARY
None.
- ATTACH
Load the diagnostic before attempting to attach.
For the VAX 11/780:
DS> ATT[ACH] RH780 HUB RHn tr br<CR>
DS> ATT[ACH] DR70 RHn URcd<CR>
For the VAX 11/750:
DS> ATT[ACH] RH750 HUB RHn br<CR>
DS> ATT[ACH] DR70 RHn URcd<CR>
Where: n = Massbus Adapter controller number
c = Alpha controller identifier; i.e. adapter number RH1 = URB
d = Device controller number of the DR70 under test (0-7)
tr = Transfer request level (11/780 only)
br = Bus request level
- REQUIREMENTS

The UUT must be disconnected from the user device by
removal of the cables and the test cable (BC08R) must
be connected from J1 to J2.

- SECTIONS
The EVDFL-1.0 program contains the following sections:
SECTION NAME MNEMONIC
------------ --------
Default None
Bandwidth B[ANDWIDTH]
Manual M[ANUAL]
Converational C[ONVERSATIONAL]
- DEFAULT
Default Test Section
The Default test section contains the tests necessary to verify the
functionality of the various logical parts of the device control
registers, and Massbus interface of the DR70.
- BANDWIDTH
Bandwidth Test Section
The BANDWIDTH test section contains a single test which will
allow the operator to manually adjust the width and period of the SCLK
signal generated by the DR70. This test requires operator intervention.
It is a standalone, continuously looping test and can be exited only via
control-C <^C>. The DR70 must be in word transfer mode (SW1-7 must be
off) to accurately perform the calibration.
- MANUAL
Manual Test Section
The Manual test section contains the tests necessary to verify the
proper operation of the switch selectable options on the DR70. The
DR70 may be placed on an extender card to facilitate access to the
switches while the test is running.
- SWITCH 4
Switch 4, when open, prevents the user attention input AT0 from setting
the ATA bit (and Massbus ATTN) when asserted. When SW1-4 is closed,
AT0 can cause the DR70's ATA bit and Massbus ATTN to be asserted.
- SWITCH 5
Switch 5, when open, prevents the user attention input AT3 from setting
the ATA bit (and Massbus ATTN) when asserted. When SW1-5 is closed,
AT3 can cause the DR70's ATA bit and Massbus ATTN to be asserted.
- SWITCH 6
Switch 6, when open, prevents the user attention input AT3 from causing
a Massbus Exception when asserted during a data transfer. This
inhibits aborting data transfers from the user interface on the DR70.
- SWITCH 7
Switch 7 selects the byte mode of operation for the DR70 when closed.
The default section tests require that SW1-7 be open, selecting word
transfer mode for the DR70.
- SWITCH 8
Switch 8 inhibits parity checking on the DR70 data transfers when
closed. SW1-8 should normally be open for diagnostic use.
- CONVERSATIONAL
Conversational Test Section
The Conversational test section contains a single test which allows the
operator to specify the parameters for a data transfer. This can be
useful for diagnosing data and parity logic errors, for DR70 repair.
Careful selection of the data to be transferred can provide valuable
information about the functionality of the data tranfer, parity
generation, and parity checking logic.
