- HELP
EVCKE is the fifth of six Repair Level Diagnostics for the
CIBCI (BI to CI adapter). It is comprised of nineteen tests. Tests
- 4, 15, 16, 17 18 and 19 are manual intervention tests. These tests
are not guaranteed to work with memory management on.
To run EVCKE, boot in the VAX 8200/8300, 8800
compatible Diagnostic Supervisor. (For VAX 8200/8300 use EBSAA
and for VAX 8800 use EZSAA)
Each time information is desired on keywords
it is necessary to type HELP EVCKE 'keyword'.
- ATTACH
BI Node Number: [hex 0-F] determined by address plug on BAC
BR Level: [4-7] fixed at 4
CI Node Number: [dec 0-255] switch select on Link Bd
Example: For VAX 8200/8300
ATTACH CIBCI HUB PAA0 2 4 14 ; BI node 2, BR level 4, CI node 14
SELECT PAA0 ; selects device to be run
Example: For VAX 8800
ATTACH NBIA HUB NBIA0 0 ; logical unit 0
ATTACH NBIB NBIA0 NBIB0 1 0 ; BI #1, BI node 0
ATTACH CIBCI NBIB0 PAA0 2 4 0 ; BI node 2, BR level 4, CI node 0
SELECT PAA0 ; selects device to be run
- SECTIONS
Sections names have been generated for tests that test
common hardware and/or similar functions. The user can run
any individual section by typing START/SECTION:SECTION NAME
The following sections are available in EVCKE:
PBUFFER - Packet Buffer Tests
MANUAL - Manual Intervention Tests
- MANUAL
NOTE: MANUAL TESTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK WITH MEMORY MANAGEMENT ON
Test 14, True Node Address Test, prompts the user to set the Tnode
switch on the Link module to various patterns, and to type GO<cr>.
Test 15, Complement Node Address Test, prompts the user to set
the Tnode and Cnode switches on the Link Module to various
patterns and to type GO<cr>.
Test 16, Boot Timer Test, prompts the user to set jumpers.
Test 17, CIPA power fail test prompts the user to remove power from the
CIPA box.
Test 18, CPU power fail test prompts the user to switch settings on
the processor to force a warm restart.
Note: Make sure that the diagnostic (EVCKE.EXE) and the diagnostic
supervisor are on the same medium.
Test 19, Power fail test using microcode is a cold restart test.
Note: Make sure that the default boot device is the one that contains
the diagnostic supervisor.
- MICRO_LOOPING
Most of the tests employing the use of custom microcode
routines have the ability to loop on the microcode by
setting Event Flag #6, prior to starting the desired test.
This action sets a ULOOP bit in a Local Store Location
causing the test to execute a Diagnostic Supervisor abort
(to stop the macrocode), but allow the CI750 microcode to
loop on the desired test. It is necessary to clear Event
Flag #6 before proceeding to run any other test in the
normal procedure. Note that ulooping is not applicable
to all tests, and could cause misleading results. Check
the test header and test ucode for additional information.
To set Event Flag 6, type 'SET EVENT 6'.
To clear Event Flag 6, type 'CLEAR EVENT 6'.
Type 'HELP EVCKE MICRO_LOOPING' for more information.
- QUICK
The QUICK feature is not implemented in this diagnostic.
The diagnostic execution time for EVCKE is 100 secs.
- SUMMARY
The Summary report gives an error count by test number. No report is
generated if there were no errors.
Type "SUMMARY"
