- HELP
ESCGD is the fourth of four Repair Level Diagnostics for the
CI780. It is comprised of fifteen tests. Eleven tests run in
the default section, while four tests run in the manual
intervention section. For information on the manual intervention
section type 'HELP ESCGD MANUAL'.
To run ESCGD, boot in the Diagnostic Supervisor, load
ESCGD.EXE, and attach as follows:
For a Vax 11/780 or 11/785:
'ATTACH CI780 SBI PAA0 14 4 0',
where 14 is the TR number,
4 is the BR level, and
0 is the node number.
For data on attaching, type 'HELP EVGAA ATTACH_CI780' (for
a CI780 on a 11/780 and 11/785) or 'HELP ATTACH_CI780_8600'.
Each time information is desired on the following keywords
it is necessary to type HELP EVGAA 'keyword'.
- ATTACH_CI780_8600.
ATTACH SBIA HUB SI0 ; If SBIA1 is used, attach SI1
; instead of SI0
ATTACH CI780 SI0 PAA0 14 4 0 ; attaches CI780 to VAX 8600
SELECT PAA0 ; selects device to be run
Device: CI780
Link: SI0/SI1
Recommended generic: PAa0
Additional information:
TR Number: [decimal 1-15] determined by BP jumpers
BR Level: [4-7] determined by BP jumpers
Node Number: [decimal 0-255] switch select on Link Bd
Note that the node number set on the Link Bd should agree with
the node number used in the Attach Command.
- ATTACH_CI780
; On a VAX 11/785 it is attached in the
; same way as the Vax 11/780
ATTACH CI780 HUB PAA0 14 4 0 ; attaches CI780 to 11/780
SELECT PAA0 ; selects device to be run
Device: CI780
Link: HUB/SBI
Recommended generic: PAa0
Additional information:
TR Number: [decimal 1-15] determined by BP jumpers
BR Level: [4-7] determined by BP jumpers
Node Number: [decimal 0-255] switch select on Link Bd
Note that the node number set on the Link Bd should agree with
the node number used in the Attach Command.
- ATTACH
ATTACH CI780 SBI PAA0 14 4 0 ; attaches CI780 to 11/780
SELECT PAA0 ; selects device to be run
Device: CI780
Link: SBI
Recommended generic: PAa0
Additional information:
TR Number: [decimal 1-15] determined by BP jumpers
BR Level: [4-7] determined by BP jumpers
Node Number: [decimal 0-255] switch select on Link Bd
Note that the node number set on the Link Bd should agree with
the node number used in the Attach Command.
- SECTIONS
Sections names have been generated for tests that test
common hardware and/or similar functions. The user can run
any individual section by typing START/SECTION:SECTION NAME
The following sections are available in ESCGD:
INT_MLOOP - Internal Maint. Loop Tests
EXT_MLOOP - External Maint. Loop Tests
MANUAL - Manual Intervention Tests
- MICRO_LOOPING
Most of the tests employing the use of custom microcode
routines have the ability to loop on the microcode by
setting Event Flag #6, prior to starting the desired test.
This action sets a ULOOP bit in a Local Store Location
causing the test to execute a Diagnostic Supervisor abort
(to stop the macrocode but allow the CI780 microcode to
loop on the desired test. It is necessary to clear Event
Flag #6 before proceeding to run any other test in the
normal procedure. Note that ulooping is not applicable
to all tests, and could cause misleading results. Check
the test header and test ucode for additional information.
To set Event Flag 6, type 'SET EVENT 6'.
To clear Event Flag 6, type 'CLEAR EVENT 6'.
- EVENT_FLAGS
ESCGD is affected by Event Flags 6,7,8, and 10.
For information on each event flag type
'HELP ESCGD EVENT_FLAGS n' where n is 6,7,8, or 10.
- 6
EVENT FLAG 6 is used for micro-looping.
To set Event Flag 6, type 'SET EVENT 6'.
To clear Event Flag 6, type 'CLEAR EVENT 6'.
Type 'HELP ESCGD MICRO_LOOPING' for more information.
- 7
Event Flag 7 should be set if the Extended Header Jumper
is installed. This affects Test 15, (Acknowledge Timeout
Test).
- 8
Event Flag 8 should be if the Extended Acknowledge Timeout
jumper is installed. This affects Test 15, (Acknowledge
Timeout Test).
- 10
Setting Event Flag 10 will allow up to 64 no response retrys
when running Tests 11 and 12, (External Maint. Loop Path Tests).
- MANUAL
Test #6, (TRUE NODE ADDRESS TEST), prompts the user to
set the TNODE switch on the Link module to various
patterns, and to type 'GO<CR>'.
Test #7, (Complement Node Address Test), prompts the user
to set the TNODE and CNODE switches on the Link Module
to various patterns and to type 'GO<CR>'.
Test #10, (Arbitration Test N+I+1), does not prompt the
user, but must run under normal clock.
Test #15, (Acknowledge Timeout Test), does not prompt the
user, but must run under normal clock. In addition if the
Extended Header jumper is installed, Event Flag 7 must be set.
If the Extended Ack Timeout jumper is installed, Event
Flag 8 must be set.
- QUICK
The QUICK feature is not implemented in this diagnostic.
The diagnostic execution time for ESCGD is 13 seconds,
(excluding manual intervention tests).
