- HELP
EVCFA is used to verify the installation of a DECdataway on
a VAX-11/780 or VAX-11/750. It performs functional tests of
the ISB11 DECdataway controller, and the ISV11 DECdataway
Intelligent Subsystem communications interface.
- DEVICE
EVCFA supports the ISB11 DECdataway controller, and the ISV11
DECdataway Intelligent Subsytem communications interface.

- RESTRICTIONS
Due to restrictions in the ISB11 driver, when running standalone
the following rules apply:
1. You must attach address 0 on each controller:
ATTACH ISV11 SBA SBA0
There is never a device connected to address 0, but
it must be attached and selected to satisfy driver
requirements.
2. You must always attach and select both addresses of
every ISV11 to be tested. This is due to a driver
restriction.
These restrictions do not apply when EVCFA is run under VMS.
- TESTS
EVCFA has five tests. These are:
1. Reliability test: this test loops data of varying pattern
and length to each device, to verify the functional
reliability of the ISB11 - ISV11 communications link.
2. Interaction test: this test imposes the maximum interrupt
rate on the ISB11 controller, by perfoming a sequence of
short transfers.
3. Identification test: this test identifies the type of
device at the selected addresses.
4. CRC test: this test verifies that the ISB11 - ISV11
communications link will properly recognize and recover
from CRC errors.
5. DYT01test: this test verifies that the DYT01 terminal
interface is operational.
- SECTIONS
EVCFA has seven sections:
QUALIFICATION, which consists of test 3
RELIABILITY, which consists of test 1
INTERACTION, which consists of test 2
CRC, which consists of test 4
DYT01test, which consists of test 5
ACCEPTANCE, which consists of tests 1-3
DEFAULT, which consists of tests 1-3
- EVENT-FLAGS
EVCFA recognizes four event flags. These flags govern the printing
of error messages.
Flag 1 -- If set, inhibits the printing of all data comparison
errors at the end of tests 1 and 2
Flag 2 -- If set, inhibits the printing of all DECdataway
errors
Flag 6 -- If set, forces EVCFA to print all errors which
occur when EVCFA runs out of room to store them
internally
Flag 7 -- If set, forces EVCFA to print error messages when
the error occurs, rather than at the end of a test
- QUICK
This section is not implemented in EVCFA. The program will run
one pass in less than 30 seconds, if there is only one device
selected, and if there are no errors.
- SUMMARY
The SUMMARY command will print a statistical summary of EVCFA's
operation. The summary includes run time, pass count, and counts
of data transferred to and from each selected dataway address.
The counts are presented on a per controller basis, and on a per
address basis, as well as totals for the entire dataway system.
Counts of dataway errors, and data comparison errors are also
presented.
- REQUIREMENTS
The level 3 diagnostics for the ISB11, EVDXA and EVDBA should be
run error-free prior to running this diagnostic.
If EVCFA is to be run standalone, the files EVQSB.EXE and EVCFB.DAT
should be located in the default load directory (eg, [SYSMAINT]).
If EVCFA is to be run under VMS, the DECdataway system software
should be up and running. Any devices to be tested should not
be in use by the DY32 network software.
